St Stephens Square

CPM is working to provide a 258-space new public car park in St Stephen’s Square, Hull City Centre.

The pay & display car park will be open to the public from early March and will be an ideal place to park for city centre shopping, Hull Truck Theatre, the KCOM Stadium and neighbouring hotels and businesses.

Plans for the new 258-space pay & display car park on derelict land in Hull City Centre were given the go-ahead by Hull City councillors at the beginning of January. The car park, managed by Car Parking Management Ltd, will operate on the site of the old Hull Truck Theatre in Hull City Centre, next to St Stephen’s Shopping Centre.

The land, which was originally earmarked for housing, is currently owned by the city council after purchasing it last year from the neighbouring shopping centre’s developers as a potential strategic development site.

Planning permission was granted at the beginning of January to lease the land to Car Parking Management Ltd. There will be 252 spaces, plus 6 disabled spaces at the car park, with access points in Spring Street and Colonial Street.

The land is part of the former Hull Truck Theatre and the old yard of the Northern Dairies depot.

Bill Ideson, Managing Director of Car Parking Management Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to have secured this site. It’s a key city centre plot and ripe for parking spaces for members of the public.

“It is also a huge investment for the business, with £54k going into remedial work on the site before we can open to the public. We are expecting to be open to the public by March.”
